The Class of 2021 arrived bright and early on Friday, August 25th for the Freshmen Retreat. The incoming ninth graders participated in icebreakers and team building exercises led by Kyle Piatak, Director of Campus Ministry, Meg Dwyer '05, Director of Student Activities, Peer Ministers, Student Council and Student Government members.
"Throughout the day, the freshmen learned about our Holy Cross heritage and legacy," said Ms. Dwyer. "We also provided them with activities that focus on communication, community and team building. These are values that are essential to being a Holy Cross Crusader."
President Peg Leger addressed the Class of 2021 and officially welcomed them into the school community. She encouraged the students to make life-long connections with classmates and teachers. "There is something very special about our school community," said Mrs. Leger. "I meet graduates all the time who talk about how much they loved their time at Holy Cross."
Mrs. Leger also encouraged the students to take advantage of their time as a Crusader. "This is an amazing opportunity you have been given," she said. "Don't let it pass you by. Go after things. Be a part of it all. Seize the opportunity to get involved."
The students participated in their first Mass as a Crusader. "Holy Cross High School is a Catholic School, centered around Jesus," said Monsignor Thomas Ginty '76, who led the Mass. "We hope that He will guide you and be a source of comfort for you during your four years here."
"The freshmen are enthusiastic," said Ms. Dwyer. "They are ready to begin their journey."
